I think there is a better chance that Bo will end up with another coordinator job, before a head coaching job. I know Bo will find success and he will turn into a great coach. Unfortunately, we just didn't have the patience to let that happen.

But whats done is done. As for the next coach, I only have to say this. No matter who it is, the guy has 2 - 3 years top, to get the team to Bo's level. Meaning 9 win seasons. After that, the guy has another 2 or 3 years to get a conference championship win. Not a visit, but a win. If not, fire the guy. Why? Because that's what we gave Bo, it would be a crime to make an exception for this new guy.

In the end, Shawn took a gamble. It can either go two ways from here. Up or down. Either way we have to live with the decision.

I think most people in Nebraska think the next coach will be Scott Frost, but I don't like that move. Why? Because you are going the no-head-coaching experience route, again. Yes I know he has been successful at Oregon, yes I know he played for Nebraska and 'knows Nebraska football'. But c'mon.

Jim Tressel is another name I have heard frequently. Head coaching experience, yes. Championship wins, yes. But he comes with a heavy amount of baggage.

Bo Pelini ranked #24 according to USA Today nationally on his salary. Kirk Ferentz makes about $1 million more than Bo Pelini. Bo was the 5th highest paid coach in the Big Ten.

One other name that has been thrown out there is Craig Bohl. Coaching at Wyoming right now, but for $800k. A $3 million salary would look appeasing to leave Wyoming for the Nebraska job. Pretty sure UNL can afford the buyout for his contract on top of Bo's.
