I really meant: don't feel sorry for me cause I don't have a boat. I envy you guys with boats and I have had this boat just sitting here.
It is ready to hit the water as soon as I get it registered.
I still need the cables for the throttle and shifter but for now I am going to unhook the steering cables from the motor and drive it like a tiller. That way I can run it around a little and see how much money I want to put into it from here.
The motor has been starting up great, it idles good and it seems like it will really push that boat around
Not bad for a 49 nine year old boat and motor.

Rugs--Some stuff about wheel bearings here if you've never done it before--I tore apart both hubs and replaced bearings, races, and seals back in February or March.

    Wheel Bearing Repacking Or Replacement

Also, there are great videos on YouTube.com that will show you in detail how to change lower unit oil. Probably some on there for trailer bearings too, now that I think about it. Just do a search and poke around til you find what you're looking for.

Thanks for the link, I wish I had that before I replaced bearings in a van years ago!, it was a nice refresher course.
Also, I learned something about those bearing buddies, I thought they would be pretty helpful but I can see where they would lead to a failure.

Yeah, gotta watch the bearing buddies. I had blown out my grease seals because I was pumping too much in there, so when I went to replace those, I just replaced the whole mess.

Thanks Beagle you'll see me around Bucksaw with it soon.
I got the name put on it, it is temporary with a Sharpie because if it works out I'm going to paint it and do it up really nice.

Nice work rugs, you are moving right along with your project. You will have a lot of pride in that when you are done.

THE RUG RAT I like it Quinn. Can't wait to see it on the lake with you swinging a fish into it.

Just noticed that it is an aluminum boat. I thought it was an ol wood boat. Saw some that have been restored (wood and metal) and they are sure sharp. Real attention getter.
