    Default Boat Insurance Coverage

I called Liberty Mutual to renew my homeowners and found out they are raising my rate $549 for the year. Now they said it was bc of natural disasters in Missouri for 2017, and I did not think I had a claim. Liberty Mutual covers boats under homeowners so when I got my boat fix for a deer collision it went under a homeowner claim. They would not come out and say it, but I'm sure the claim raised my rate. So if you have your boat insured I would look to see if it's separate insurance or under homeowners. What should have been a comprehensive boat claim has now become a homeowners claim for me. I have already shopped other insurance companies and found much better rates so I'm gonna switch asap.

We got ours from State Farm on a separate policy from our vehicle insurance.

I called State Farm and they would not even give me a quote bc of my deer collision with a boat homeowners claim. Very odd when other companies were more than happy to have my business....just my experience

That is weird. Might try a different office. People hit deer all the time. We have never had a problem with State Farm.

Have all my insurance thru AmFam sometimes if less expensive my agent will even use an underwriter for the policy . I've had a few claims on and off the water, luckily not many in the 20 years I've had the boat but they've never even raised my rates due to a claim?

My daughter is a State Farm agent, and my boat insurance is separate from my Homeowners, and I have found that same company different agents give different quotes. go figure.
