Default Incident at Mark Twain 8/30/17

My buddy and I hit Mark Twain yesterday, just as we were about to start fishing he tripped and fell in, about 20-30 ft of water. His PFD inflated and I got over to him and started pulling him to the shore because there was NO WAY he could get back in the boat from the water. Just as I got him to shore, he just kind out went blank and laid back, I thought he was having a Heart Attack! There was a guy fishing close by so I yelled for him to call 911, I started chest compressions. Then I got with 911 as I'm working and the other guy came over and helped pull him up a little. I was working on him as best I could and a lady and her husband pulled up and she was a nurse, she came over and started CPR and it seemed like it took FOREVER for first responders to get there! A second seems like a YEAR when things are going BAD! My buddy isn't small and it took a lot to get him on the boat, they got him to the ramp and put him in the ambulance and worked on him for quite a while then they life flighted him to Columbia. Be safe! Prayers couldn't hurt! ALWAYS WEAR YOU PFD! Not sure what happened, but it's possible that we wouldn't have gotten where we did if he HADN'T HAD HIS PFD ON!

Just got word my Best Buddy passed at about midnight! Keep your Loved ones in your heart! Wear your PFD'S! I didn't get the name of the Nurse who stopped yesterday and worked TIRELESSLY kneeling in the water trying to help my buddy, if you read this, THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! At least his family got to see him before he left us! A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL THAT HELPED ME YESTERDAY! I was a wreck by time they took off with him! And to Trooper Peterson, Thank You for being so concerned about me!

So sorry for your loss, Barry, and for the man's family and other friends. That's tragic. Be assured of my prayers.

Were they able to say what happened? Was it a heart attack? Do you suspect the episode actually started in the boat, which is why he tripped and went overboard in the first place? Or was it all the effort/excitement in the moments that followed trying to get him to shore that it went from bad to worse?

    Prayers up.
