Default Dang Bow Hunters ……… Give Me Some Stories????

Got out for the first time today and had a small buck at 10 yards. Seen two other does with no shot or one of them may of had a bad day??? My buddy sitting about 700 yards away also saw deer!!!

Shooting pretty good with my new wrist but can’t rip a phonebook in half yet. Well maybe the Windsor phone book, I think its one page????

Couldn’t resist posting another pick……. LOOK Away!!!!!

    Default Clorox for coverscent

yeah, you read that right! I been cleaning up in the basement all weekend, getting ready to start butchering deer and cleaning those winter time catfish. cleaned the sink, the butchering table, the grinder the outside of the freezer and frigerator, all with bleach water. the ol basement looks good again!
early afternoon comes around and I decide to go hunting for the first time this season. so I hurry up and get my stuff in the truck and take a shower and leave for a nearby hunting spot and on the way there I realize I still smell like bleach! pretty bad, too! oh well, hunt the wind, right? so I spray myself with about half bottle of dead down wind, which didn't help a bit, and climb up a tree. about 5 PM a group of 2 does and a fawn come by real close, no shot and they just pass by. 10 minutes later a big spike wanders in down wind, crosses my trail. he paused to sniff some but kept going. then those same 2 does and fawn come back and offer me a clear 20 yard shot. draw back and... whiff! arrow sailed right over her back. AFTER the shot I ranged it at 14 yards. about this time I am thinking I ruined this hunt and then I have a group of 5 does/ fawns show up and again I have a great shot but this time too many eyes and I get busted on the draw. deer scattered, blowing from every direction, oh what a mess! but not 30 minutes later I get yet another pair of does headed my way, from down wind, but they must have winded me because they took off blowing before I could get turned around... so close! but what a great way to start the season! not too often I see more than 3-4 deer in an afternoon, so maybe I'm on to something?

Glad the bionic man is back at it again. I am fixing to get back into bow hunting. My back got me down several years ago and had to give it up. Crossbow was just not the same for me. I actually have not even gun hunted since then. Something about a bow in hand and having to get in close. Really gets the heart thumping.

How long did it take you to drill holes in target and stick arrows in ???? Really glad the arm feels good enough to shoot again!!!!

That sounds like a great first day. I'm going to my farm this weekend and hopefully get something there. I have a couple of good spots for bow that get a lot of traffic. I shot about 1/2in under a NICE 8pt two years ago so I have to redeem myself.
I've heard people say bleach is an attractant. I don't know that'd try it on purpose, but I've heard it from more than one old timer. Put bleach on a stump and they'll come runnin.

We had a cat that would prove bleach to be an attractant. If the lid came off the bleach in the house that dang cat was all over you if you got a spot on your hand.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
