This has been in the works for some time now. Still too early to tell if its going to work, I doubt it will as there isn't enough open public land for them.

They'll do okay. They are doing very well down in Arkansas. Some of the ozark highways provides nice views of them during the spring. Me and my son were camping just off the Buffalo River close to Woolum, AR and heard them calling in the early morning. Nice sound echoing off the river bluffs.

Here in Kentucky we have an Elk population of nearly 10,000. They live over in eastern Kentucky in the Mountains.

I think the Missouri Elk will do good.

    Here is a cool Video.

I sure hope they thrive here in MO and can only expect they do. I know the MDC has put a lot of time, research and money in to transplanting them to Peck Ranch. Those videos are awesome!

Kentucky Lake... Thanks for the elk! Elk trapped and relocated from KY is why Missourians will get to enjoy this beautiful animal.

Yea as I am from Arkansas I have watched them for years. But the Buffalo River State Park is pretty good size and it runs into some larger tracks of land as well that is controlled by the National Forest Service. I hope they do well here in MO as well, would be a good tourist attraction for those traveling through.
