    Default boat ins!!!!!!

ok guys i have to b@#$h a little here..i have been with state farm for 18 yrs now with auto, home, life, and boat ins. and my boat ins was up for renewal this week so i went up on last monday and paid for the year.then friday moring i get a call from them say that they are canceling my boat ins. well last year in may my boat and both of my trucks were broken into that were sitting in my driveway along with 24 other cars on my block so it just wasnt me.just from my boat alone was around $3100, gps uints, tackle and a couple of rods and reels and was my frist claim in 18 yrs. the reson they told me was that i have not been with them long enough(for boat 3yrs) and what they paid out to me(3100) and what they have taken in (3 yrs of 356 a yr)that they can not offset the cost so they droped me.then she told me that if i make another claim within 2 yrs that they will pay for it and then they will drop all my ins.then what is ins. for then just sum company to give my money to and not get anything back for it. so i tried to get new ins. on saturday and i called 13 diffent ones and all said that it would be around 500 to the highest of 821 a yr for new ins...............so im done B@&%Hing now so i want to know it anyone else have had a problem with theres and what all did u do

That sucks!!! A friend of mine hit deer twice in the same year. They cancelled him. No other claims, perfect driving record. No other reason.

That is the way insurance companys are, one way street. You have to have them, and pay them to assume you're responsibily and liability but they don't and a lot of times won't assume the responsibility that they assume when they cash your check.

Just a sad fact of life. We still have to have them. I don't blame them for making money, they just need to know that sooner or later that we will all have claims that aren't our fault and shouldn't up your rate.

I have my boat, house and vehicles through State farm also. Have not had any claims through them yet. From the way it sounds I hope I do not have to.

knock on wood but I have to make a claim on my car or boat, but twice on my house and they did warn me about another claim. But what bothers me is I ask about boat insurance and they tell me I'm covered under my car when towing and house other times. I've asked several times just to make sure. Anyone else hear the same? Or should I check futher.

For boat ins, I use Progressive, great rates and total value replacement. I suggest you look into them. For everything else I use Farm Beaurea

I too am covered under my Home owner when the boat is at home and my truck when towing it but on the water is another issue or at my cabin if it's attached to my truck that's why I hook up at nite on my ramp so it's covered

I have American Family on both of my boats. I've had one claim on my jon when it decided to fly down my gravel road without the trailer. They paid "current value" which wasn't near enough to buy a new one with. The dealer that I used adjusted some things that made it come out better, including a new cover for my 40 hp Yam. that was $500.

I too ,thought I was insured while towing my boat with my truck. That was not the case .Last Aug. , I was involved in a head on crash on my way home from fishing . I tolaled my Tracker , my truck , plus a two man Scamper..Also lost my right leg below the knee..The truck was insured but not the two boats. They said the the other drivers insurance was responsible for the boats..Still waitng to hear from his insurance..Bottom line is , you have to insure your boat with a seperate policy.. That is with Allstate.......Norm

I work with people on their financial planning and if your not having your insurance policies quoted every 2 years you are losing money and in most cases big money... I know this is a big pain in the tail but if you have 2 or more policies you need to shop your insurance every year or two.

I recommend you make sure it's quoted by two or three companies and keep a standard sheet to show what riders you want. Once you make this page or sheet up up with your ID numbers and info you want it's very easy. It sucks but the day of having one agent who takes care of everything is over if you want to save money. By keep your policies at one place over time you pay a lot and I mean a lot more. Each year insurance companies discount their cost in certain areas to gain customers and then raise raise the rate in other areas if they have to many clients. This is how they even out the risk bye spreading out their clients. You may not see your personal rate raise but normally there is someone who has a better rate each year.
It's not duck season so I have to do something... :D
