    Ok....here is mine.

Two years ago we decided to take our 16 ft aluminum boat out on a small lake by Brinktown, Mo.

We threw the trolling motor battery in the back of the boat and took off. About 3 miles down the road I looked in my rearview mirror to see a huge flame coming from the back of the boat.

We stopped and got out of the truck and found the back seat totally engulf in flames.

We looked at each other and realized the only thing we had to put it out was our beer in the cooler. Reluctantly we opened our beer and put out the fire.

Somehow the trolling motor battery must have fallen over landing with the post leaning on the aluminum seat. It didn't take long for the seat to catch fire along with the insulation.

What a mess....the entire back half of the boat was fried and we were now short on beverages.

Thank goodness we didn't have the gas tank back there.

We can laugh about it now but it scared the living daylights out of us at the time.

Nothing better than getting out on the water.

And, carry a fire extinguisher, water or something to put out a fire other than beer.

About 30 years ago me and my best friend decided to go gigging. We got to the river early and downed some snapps and a lot of beer. We proceeded a couple of miles upriver when I hit some moss, I raised the motor and started cleaning the prop. About that time my friend gigged something and threw it in the boat, then immediatily jumped to the back with me. There were beer cans flying and something banged my lights and put them out. It proceeded to make a lot of noise and get louder. Of course back then we didn't even carry a flashlight as backup. Everytime we got up to try to see it with a lighter it started getting noisy again. So we decided it must be a beaver, which neither of us wanted anything to do with. We sat in back and continued drinking in the dark. After about 30 min another friend came by in his boat and stopped. He wanted to know what we thought we were doing, and we told him we had a mean beaver in the front. He shined a light at the front which revealed a small muskrat, who was very annoyed. We grabbed a gig and tossed him out and finished out the rest of the night gigging.

I jumped in the back of a buddies jon boat one fine spring evening to fish a small lake in Wisconsin Dells. I unhooked the front and when he hit the brakes I found out his bunks tilted. Shot me and the back of the boat under the water. 6 horse motor pops off the transom. I catch the motor and I'm hanging half over the edge of the jon trying to keep my motor from going to the bottom. Eventually muscled it back into the boat. Took the cowling off. Dumped out the excess water. 15 minutes later fired up and we went fishing.

Almost did the same thing the following year, but then remembered as i put my foot up on the edge of the trailer.

Ever had a flat on the boat trailer (homemade ) and jacked it up with a hydraulic jack? Be sure to take the handle out of the jack BEFORE you unhook the trailer to go get the tire fixed. Believe me I still have a nice quarter sized aluminum slug that the jack handle punched out for me when the trailer rolled forward.

Like everyone else, I have too many to mention. However, one comes to mind. My brother and I went Sam Rayburn in Texas to bass fish for a week and we put the Boat in the water on the first day. Oops no plug no big deal. Except he paniced and drove the boat up on shore and hit a tree with the trollering motor and broke the trolling motor. Spent the whole day tracking down the parts to fix it.

It was a 3 day week end and we were heading to Duck Creek for a few days of fishing and camping. The car (1967 Ford) was loaded with the wife, 3 kids, a nephew and gear. I had my 15' aluminum bass boat hooked on the back. We had just passed the Desoto exit when I heard the most awful noise, and felt the boat pulling to the side. Stopped the car and pulled over and confirmed what I had suspected, Bearing froze, and flat spot on tire. I unhooked the trailer and started to go look for bearings, then I noticed that the car brakes wasn't working, pedal to the floor. Looked under the car and discovered that the brake line was rusted and the fluid had leaked out. I walked to the nearest exit, nothing there except a small store. No help there, but they had a pay phone. I called my brother in law and advised him of the situation. He was heading out for the same destination, after working the night shift, so I told him where I would be. About 1:30 am he arrived pulling his 14' jon boat with his new 4cyl. Chevy Vega. Too late to get parts. What to do? First removed the motor and unloaded the boat. We took the boat off my trailer, placed it on the ground, we put my motor in his boat, then we placed my trailer on top of his boat, on top of the trailer we placed the aluminum bass boat. We pinched off the brake line to the rear brakes and put some fluid in the Ford. Now we have double deck boats and trailers being towed by a Vega 4 cylinder going down the road led by a Ford with only front brakes. You would not believe the looks and stares we got on the way there. Got to lake about day light and put the boats in the water and had 3 good days of fishing. Was able to get the brake line and trailer bearings in Puxico. By the way the ford was old when I got it, but the Vega may date me. Talk about red necks.
