    Default Truman Sugarcamp Hallow 04/24

My son and I headed out around 1:30p and found 4 or 5 schools and a few single fish. The pressure is on and the fish are real skittish in open water. In Sugarcamp the cove I selected the water was 60.5* we fished a cove between Sugarcamp and the ramp at Long Shoal on the north side and the water was shallower and 57.8*. At any rate, my son learned a valuable lesson about setting the hook and getting the fish over the boat ASAP. I guess I could have gotten the net, but I just huck them up into the boat. 5 fish in total with about 3 hours of fishing. We found a nice brush pile, but those fish wanted minnows. They weren't interested in jigs or jigs with nibbles. Well all except the 3 we pulled out of that brush. The schools were all over this brush pile too! A great amount stayed over and in it, while schools would come and go like a super highway!

No pictures, but I thought the temps would be of interest to folks. I saw more boats on the water Sunday, than I have in all the days I've fished from Jan until now.

Fishing seems to always be full of lessons. Sounds like a good trip.

It was real neat to watch the schools come and go. Part of this was the depth and skittish schools with large fish darting in to get the smaller ones for a snack. I plan on taking a friend and his daughter out there to bobber fish.
