Excellent job of tracking them down.
Just now getting a chance to report. Was able to take a fellow Crappie.com member with me who doesn't have a boat and I certainly enjoyed his company. Wonderful person to have in the boat!
Fishing started out rough. Got on the water around 8:00 AM tried jigging trees on the South Fork with no luck on the crappie however did manage a few large mouth. Next tried trolling cranks in a couple places and no luck. I did see the crappie chasing shad in the open areas of the lake but they didn't want to eat a crank bait. Around 12:45 went looking for new places to troll cranks and I found some structure in an area I didn't think would have structure. Went back to it and started catching some quality fish for MTL. 9.5" to 10.5". Pull out about 10 keepers from this spot. Decided to go looking for some more spots like it in the area. I managed to find about 5 more spots and pulled out at least 5 keepers on each spot. I love it when the electronics find fishing spots. Makes me feel better about the side imaging costs.
Fish were on the bottom 22' to 28' deep tight to structure. We had to be right near the bottom to get hit. Silver-Chartreuse & , black-red-Chartreuse, & black-orange-Chartreuse tube jigs.
Usually I can see crappie on structure with my Down Scan, but on these spots I couldn't see many crappie. I just fished them anyway and caught em. Here is a shot of one spot on the SI.
Excellent job of tracking them down.
Nice report! Congrats
By "structure," you mean rock piles and points? The image you posted looks like a brushpile (which is cover- not structure).
Thanks for the report and for taking one of us fishing. Structure or cover I like the pic.
Good job man, structure/cover it all be the same to the fish, Jiggin 15 gave me some good advice he got from a top stick,,, Trust your Electronice they will find you some fish.... glad you trusted yours
Yeah I guess it is cover not structure. I did find another spot that had a drop off and some brush. So both structure and cover. When I dropped my jig down on That spot the crappie were inhaling it. Defiantly feeding and aggressive

WTG and that's how you do it when they arn't aggressively biting in the usual places.
I have read that at times when you dont see the fish on the DS switch to traditional sonar and you have a better chance of picking up the fish on your screen. Haven't really tried it since I read but I do rember I read so sometime soon I will try it.
Oh and by the way you forgot the GPS coordiantes on your screen shot. LOL
