    I've never been on Smithville other than when I test drove my boat. Which boat ramp would be a good start?

    All ramps are accessible. Depends on which side of the lake you want to start at.

    Route W, Camp Branch or Little Platte are the main ones I've used. The lake is only 7000 acres, so it won't be a long haul to new water no matter where you drop in at.

    Just an fyi it'll cost you $17 to launch your boat and park your truck at any of the park's ramps.

    There are a few free ramps, yes. Park ramps will cost you though.

    Yes, there's one up north near Plattsburgh I think and one near Trimble? But some of those free ramps are very shady. Trucks have been broken into and damaged or tires slashed. A body was found at one of the ramps a few years ago. So you get what you pay for.
