Default Mark Twain before the big rain

Fished yesterday from 4-7pm out of SouthFork. Crappie were in 2-4 foot of water right off any pea gravel bank we could find. Scattered one here, one there, but got 11 nice ones (10-12 in). Lost several others. Threw back 15 smaller ones.

Water was pretty dingy everywhere with maybe 10" visibility. 60 degree water, so early stages of spawn.

Decided that we better get up there before the big rains hit and it floods out.

Nice work. Looks like Twain is projected to crest middle of next week at 618'...... barring any additional rainfall.

Gonna make for some good fishing if you can find them!

They will drop the lake eventually and there will be LOTS of crappie beds on dry ground. The Corps has to drop it after so many days of not dropping it. I was just up there from Sat until today (5/3) and the fish shut down during the rise. We were lucky to get 4 fish a day with about 2X that many 5 inchers. Cold, windy, muddy, rising water makes for a bad use of vacation time.

Mississippi is flooded so it will be a little while before they start releasing a good amount of water hopefully.
