It is a LOT better now. Back in the old days, I remember fishing a 3 day, national championship bass tournament in Missouri. There were contestants from California, Florida, Illinois, Texas, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, and a dozen other States. Every boat and fisherman were checked every day. Hundreds of citations were issued... mostly for paperwork. No registration for their trolling motors for example. It mattered not that in their States it was impossible to "register," one. Go down to the License Bureau here in MO and try to register your Motor Guide then imagine your reaction if you got checked south of the AR border on Bull Shoals and get a $50 ticket because it was't registered
Those days are over, thank God, and even MO no longer requires electric motors to be registered. The marinas, hotels, restaurants of MO lost a lot of income because that organization never came back to MO.
