Batter to meat ratio is best.
    With Andys of course.
This is really the only thing I can tell a difference in as well. Catching those 12"+ slabs is more fun, but I like how the fillets off the smaller fish fry up a little bit crispier. If all I can catch are big ones though, I'll still eat them with out complaining too much.

Funny this topic came up because I was about to post a report on Little Dixie Lake and how small the crappie were but they were soooooo good! I went ahead and cleaned a dozen "maybe" 8 inchers and cooked em up with egg batter, and my special breading and am smiling as I type~!!
I think the small ones are better but the combo of fresh and breading to meat ration does it right.

    Never met a crappie I didn't like.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Crappie are like sex, even the worse I've had was pretty darn good.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
