I think for the most part they do a good job. I just wish they would pay your comprehensive deductible when a deer causes 4-5k in damages on average to your vehicle when they run out in front of you..

with all the bad things going on in politics,,, the hunger, unemployment, homeless families, health insurance, bad roads, on and on and on Heck why not mess with the conservation department,,,, I support them all the way, and am a firm believer in use taxes,, you use it you pay,,you don't use it you don't pay...

I know our local Senator wont go for this he is a country boy.
Perchplucker, just to let you know, Representative Redmon is from Canton, and Senator Munzlinger is from Williamstown. Canton is small (2,500), but the largest town in his district. Williamstown doesn't even have a stop light anymore. There's a small FS station, a lot of farm land and a post office that's only open part time. I thought both were "country boy's". I think the bills are retribution for something else. Gotta see who supports it and follow the $$$ as with everything else. I've heard that many legislators don't like that Conservation doesn't have to ask for general revenue money, and programs aren't dependent on likes and dislikes of legislators.

Ever heard of Larry Dablemont???? Self proclaimed "Grizzled old outdoorsman", writer, speaker, radio show host, and various other things.
He is in the vanguard of wanting the MDC abolished, thinks it does nothing for Missouri citizens.
I'd bet a buck he's involved in this.
I'll smoke just about anything (in my smoker)
The fishing is always great. The catching varies.

Our local Senator grew up with his father involved with the Conservation Department and politicians in Jefferson City working on outdoor issues. Those guys may have a burr in there butt about something. Several Years ago when they tried to get rid of the stupid emission testing in St. Louis and surrounding area one senator or representative from down there was having a fit. Saw him on tv and he was very upset that they wanted to get rid of it. First thing I thought was he is getting kick backs from it. won't say anymore about the emission testing that is a burr with me. lol

I don't mind the fees, I think MDC does a good job and the agents I have met are usually friendly. The Smithville lake pass stings a little, but the ramps and surrounding areas are kept up, even the free ramps are workable. As far as government waste...I'm sure in Washington there is a crappie on a treadmill !!

We get a lot more bang for our bucks buying hunting and fishing licenses than any other tax or fee that I know of. I for one do not mind paying for my privilege to fish and hunt. Might be nice if bordering states would accept each others licenses/

FYI It is Senate Bill 56 or SB56. Don't know who put the burr under Munzlinger he used to be ok when he was a Rep. Guess he put on his Big Boy panties when he was elected to the Senate. Don't know Redmon but you need to contact your Rep and Senator. I did and told them not to fix something that ain't broke.

I wonder if Redmon and Mnzlinger got a ticket for an 8 1/2 inch crappie.....

Leave it alone, congressmen! I know the Conservation Department is loaded and is the envy of every other state agency because of their funding. Having said that...I think they do a great job! Even when they have to deal with desperados shooting off their guns in an unapproved area at Smithville Lake (said desperado may or may not drive a really fast red boat and have a screen name that rhymes with "Schmeefer Schmish"!!!!!!)
I believe in catch and release.....right into the grease!!!!!
