Default Kansas City Boat & Sportshow

Looks like it's time for the Big Boy's Toy Store Show again. KC Boat & Sportshow, January 23-26. Link: http://www.kansascitysportshow.com/default.aspx

They have some interesting seminars: http://www.kansascitysportshow.com/a.../seminars.aspx
(If you look real hard, you will find some familiar names)

    Who's goin'?

I've never been to it Alex. I might just give it a chance this year. I'll have to look and see how many tackle exhibitors there are 'cause if I start looking at boats again Miss Liz is likely to give my boat to her new husband!
The fishing was so good I thought it was yesterday

I just looked at all the exhibitors, holy cow! I think we're going to try either the Friday night after work or Saturday morning Alex. You going? I had to promise not to look at boats and outboards.

Chris, I will probably go Saturday. I like the crappie and catfish seminars.

I will be sporting a Ranger hat and shirt or maybe a Crappie.com shirt and will be the big guy drooling over the new Ranger boats. The noon seminar with Todd and Tim may be a good place to meet up with everyone.

I didn't here good things about it last year- but looking at the list, it looks like a pretty good show- but still light on tackle exhibitors. I usually get my season Corps of Engineers ramp pass at the one is St. Louis in past years, but I didn't see the corps on the list of booth exhibitors.

I went to the Outdoor and Gun show in St. Joseph yesterday. Only boat dealer there was Charlie Kunkel from 154 Marine in Perry Mo (MTL). I had a good conversation with a guy from Kansas who invented a tool called the "Pop Snagger" http://www.popsnagger.com/ It is basically a piers with a rat-tooth for busting jig eyelets, a GOOD side cutter that actually cuts line, an eyelet threader for line and a hook file. Kind of nice talking to the inventor of these tools about how tough it is to get their invention sold and how the big box stores expect them to outsource their production so they can get a 100% margin (100% mark-up)on the sale of their product. I think this tool will very well made and will beat the cheap steel jig eyelet buster I have been using- but I usually resort to another jig hook to clean the paint out of the eyelet anyway.

I have a set of those pliers. The guy was good friends with Ned Rutledge and I got a pair through him via Mike Friend. They are pretty handy.

Last year it was the absolute worse sports show ever.
