Default Blasting Through the Refuge at Smithville?

Tried finding fish yesterday at the 'ville. Had my usual luck tho....one dink from brushpile. But while I was there(out from the ramp at W), a guy put his boat in and idled out to the buoys on the North side. As soon as he got to clear water, he put the hammer down and took off right through the refuge. Man I wanted an agent to show up right about then! Maybe that ticket is cheap? Might be worth it to get to fish up there! Oh well....even if it were a cheap ticket, I wouldn't do it.

Went to another brushpile and I swear there must have been arms and hands down there rather than branches. Every thing I dropped in got hung up. I was hung one time and reeled down to it with my 10' rod and tried jabbing at it when I got there. Couldn't get it off, tho, so I pulled rod back and was going to try straightening the hook. But when I pulled the rod out, only the bottom half came up!great...just great. So I tried pulling the hook straight to get them both out.....nope....line broke. I'm ready to jump in at that point to see if I could retrieve my rod, but danged if the thing didn't float up to me.....time for some fresh line

Maybe you will have to use heavier braid in that pile. I had trouble with a spot several years ago that I would always have to break off. Found out from an Old timer that some body dropped a bunch of cable in that spot.

Vic it sounds like you need to be fishing in a swimming pool, then when you get hung up, at least you might pull up a bikini top or better yet a bottom....... even 10# braid would hold that.........

I know how you feel Vic, I've had too many days like that myself. Glad you got your rod back.
