New goal 16" crappie by December 30
At the state park campground off of 134 which is off 42.
pb2 is the one off of 54 and the bait shop at either one can't be trusted to be open until the end of april or the beginning of may. I just always use one of the bait shops in town. Rippin lips in osage beach is on 42. Or there is fitzs right next to ozarkland on 54 (could be the new parkway now not sure what they call all the roads now that the new highway is finished). There is another one on the parkway/old 54 before you get to pb2 if your headin towards Camdenton but can't remember the name. Personally I prefer rippin lips and fitzs as the other one sometimes has a tendency to treat us like second class citizens since we crappie fish instead of chasing bass. That being said I still go there if I'm going to pb2 as it cost to much to go out of the way. They also seem to open a little earlier and stay open a little later at least in the spring and fall. I avoid loz like the plague in the summer months. Gets way to rough for my taste during that period.
Yea i hear ya on "way to ruff in the summer"!!!!! Im thinkin momma and and i are gonna try our luck in the niangua or Glaize haven't decide yet. We're going to head that way mid day tomorrow in the rain it sounds like and try n get a room in Camdenton that alows dogs do our dogs are always with us!! Well be in a black Seaark if you see gimmie a shout!!
"It's on like Bing Bong"!!!!!! Si Robertson
Were those spawners on the banks more Blacks or Whites? Last week's report I heard was more blacks which tells me (I hope) it should still be on like donkey kong this weekend and next. Counting the minutes......
I assume you're referring to the male white crappies when you say blacks, because up here we actually have black crappies in some waters, and man do those males get jet black in the spring. We caught probably 2 or 3 males to every female last weekend in the Glaize. Not all the females I cleaned were "milky" ripe. This all leads me to believe things were just starting get fired up. And if that's the case, and I hope it is cuz I'm heading back down tomorrow after work, fishing should be getting really good right now.
Thanks for all of the tips. I head to the lake Friday with a friend and look to put the hurt on around the 25 mm. Starting at the point working shallower, hiting the laydowns hard and using slip floats with 1/16 and 1/32 in lead heads with black/chartrues or Red/chartruese or Red/orange with a minnow in 6-14 feet of water.
I will post next week when I get back.
