sure be interested in what they have to say about the Artic Armor suits
Fishroper and I both use the BassPro inflatable bests. His is auto, and mine is the old manual. Fishroper and Catman also have the Arctic Armor suits for cold weather. I'm not able to swing that one, but use the inflatable over by heavy clothes. The nice thing about the inflatables during for me is that i always have it, and use it for my Kayak also. I went with manual because I was afraid that a tip, or rain shower would set the auto off. Apparently light rain won't. They are very comfortable in the summer.

Hopefully they'll chime in on their own, but both have told me they're warm, and really block the wind. Fishroper's I believe is fleece lined. Fishroper hasn't used the floatation aspect of it, and won't unless he has to. Both seem very impressed. I know there are videos on youtube of the suits being worn in water.
Hey kaz, just to let you know I really like my arctic Armor. It is very warm and easy to move around in. I got the green and yellow suit which is the cheapest I think it was 289.00 for 2xl. Mine is about 3 or 4 years old and still in very good shape but I only use it when it is very cold. Never fell in yet so can't say for sure that it will float you but that's what I'm counting on if I do.Only thing is I wish I'd have ordered a 3xl for a little more room. I think they run a little small.
thanks catman, that's what i was wondering about is durability and freedom of movement, seems green / yellow is the one most frequently "on sale", packer fans know they'll float anyway because,,,,oh, well never mind, thanks again
Remember to wear one at ALL times to be legal. If you take it off, you will need an approved tye I, II, or III to be legal.
"To be acceptable, Type V life jackets must be worn and used in accordance with their label."
"One USCG—approved Type IV personal flotation device must be on board vessels 16 feet or longer and readily accessible, in addition to the above requirements.
Each person riding on a PWC must wear a USCG—approved Type I, II, III, or V PFD. "

Question--- has anyone actually jumped in the lake and tested these inflatables. Do they go off if it is pouring down rain and get soaked? What does it cost to rearm them after they have been inflated. Just wondering--They sure look like the way to go
I'd imagine it fires on water pressure not just getting wet. Same principle as dive computers. I can rinse mine under the tap without it coming on.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
I guess I will have to borrow an inflatable life vest and fish with it. The one I tried on just didn't feel all that great to have on all day fishiing. Perhaps it is me, but I usually don't fish with a life vest on unless the waves are fairly strong. Of course, I always have a life vest on while my outboard motor is running, as well as, when there is high winds. And, my life vest is connected to cord going to the kill switch. So, what do others do with the cord when using an inflatable life vest? I wouldn't want a cord hanging from an inflatable life vest while fishing. And, I wouldn't want to forget connecting it to my life vest when under power.
Perhaps it is just me, but I'm not too impressed with the inflatable life vest.
