    Default Truman/Grand... Sat/Sun report

We were having a big fish fry Friday night, we're just about finished with the prep, folks are to show up at about 6:30. About 6:00 my sister and her husband, both fish fans, from Little Rock, walk up on the back deck. She called my wife early Friday and told her they had an itch and wanted to get out of town and would it be ok, the wife said it was and kept the secret. Big fun and what a blessing seeing sis.

    On to the fishing report....

Of course with 15 folks, coolers of beer, Makers Mark, etc. flowing... I was feeling less than 100% Saturday morning so my usual 5:30 departure was a bit late. The BIL and I finally left about 8am, got breakfast at the Harrisonville McD's, headed to the lake. I'm feeling better, we start fishing just a couple miles from BS, gut starts feeling funny, head is spinning, can't focus... keep trying to fish, I'm breaking out in sweat... them I chum the fish about five times. I kept trying to force my recovery, but my gut was in knots, BIL was doing his best trying to drive the trolling motor, I passed out on the back deck of the boat and napped. Finally he woke me saying we need to get me out of the heat or I will be sorry. We ended up with 12 keepers and a white bass. Recovered the boat, dropped a bag of fish and slaw at the tourney, headed for home with BIL driving.

Sunday, sis and BIL head for home, I leave the for the lake about 9:30 after giving them eight pounds of deer and three quarts of crappie. Fish same area and claim 13 over 10" keepers and three white bass. Caught a nice large black, need new scale, it was 12.5" and chunky.

Both days were fishing Bronze Star jigs from Tightwad C, black/char and light blue/char tipped with minnow.

Sorry you did not feel well enough to stick around for our fish fry and weigh in. Sounds like you found some good fish.

I've chummed those same waters following a camp-out/party at Bucksaw campground when I had to check catfish jugs the next morning. Not a fun way to start a morning- but at least you don't have a problem letting it go in any direction.

    Concrete,

That is what I'm thinking. I felt fine, stomach fine, head fuzzy, but other than that I was good to go. Even had to tinker with things in the boat at the locker, hung upside down to secure wires, etc.... no issues. The whole event started with my gut getting bloated, then the sweats, then belching... then....

The pain was intense. I'm just thankful that it had one exit point.

Just sorry that my BIL that drove 400 miles didn't get the real Truman experience.

That's the dreaded "delayed hangover".......nothing more, nothing less! Best way to overcome................... hair of the dog man. Every year when we hit Truman I know I haven't enjoyed myself unless I have one of those mornings. On the ramp, in the water, on shore, but as long as you keep the boat clean, all good!

Way to tough it out though!
