Vic as you already know Smithville is a Funny lake. There are times I think I’d have a better chance fishing in a toilet and there are other times it’s the only place in Missouri I want to fish. We are between those times right now. I would look for creeks (channels and ledges) and follow them out toward the mouths. Stay away from the main lake unless chasing the eye's. The docks are always a possibility on that lake. I wouldn’t count on anything consistent for another few weeks. When you figure that lake out let me know because you’re a better man than me! GOOD LUCK!

    Nice work basscatman! Thumbs Up

    Funny "ha-ha", or funny "weird"?????

I know they are in there Bill, but I try lots of the things the Truman gang use....and honestly some of it works to a degree. Just can't seem to find a true "Smithville" pattern. I am ruling out lots of things that DON'T seem to work!!

I have caught fish at Smithville by doing something different or fishing where there isn't any pressure . Think outside the box . There are more ways than one to catch em' , and I'm no expert on Smithville .

Buddy and I caught a limit Sunday around Camp Branch docks. He has been catching limits for the past 2 weeks in Sailboat and Camp Branch fishing around the docks from boat and even from shore.

Try fishing the upper 4 to 6 feet of water over structure. The upper layer of water is warming and the fish will often be in that upper layer. I love crappie fishing the docks this time of year. I usually catch fish just when the jig goes out of sight. Try casting into a slip and let the jig fall back to you keeping it no deeper than 5 feet.
