Question March 31 Crappie trip question from [email protected]

My gang of guys are planning a crappie trip starting the weekend of March 31. We would like to stay within 6 hours of Springfield our jumping off spot. We do not necessarily need to stay in MO. Any suggestions for that time of year? Thanks, jt

Truman lake would be less than two hours from there. Or head south east and hit Grenada. It should be prime by the end of march.

Talk to mooney at fin&feather about lake fork. March may be a little late for easy fishing. Also if you go ask him about the dairy barn to stay. Not fancy but well worth the price. A super lady owns it.Thats F&F in springfield.

Yep last year during March Truman was on fire, but for it being a reservoir it all depends on the rainfall and lake elevations.

On Grenada the Crappie Masters will be going on then on that lake. But don’t let that stop you from going down there, or on Sardis or Enid or Arklabutla for that matter, there are also some other smaller oxbow lakes that will be good during that time as well, some in Arkansas as well. The lakes in MO should all be getting real good by then, not only for crappie but for white bass as well, if your into that. Good luck to ya. Oh and there are some smaller lakes on the east side of Kansas you might try looking on the KS board and see any reports they might put up, if they ever do.

are Sardis, Enid & Arklabatula in MS? Also what would you think about Norfork or Greers Ferry that time of year. Any other good AR lakes? thank you JT

Yes they are in Sippi and are the rest of the big four along with Grenada. Several good lakes in Arkansas also. Not trying to steer you one way or the other but by then there will be more info flowing about Truman than any of the others. Grenada during CrappieMasters may be worth going to see. Can catch the weighin and learn a little about the lake and how they are catching then.
