    Default LOZ 10-15 and 10-16

I said I would report, and now I am. We didn't have the type of success I was hpoing for to say the least. It wasn't a total bust, the guys I went with took home fis, but we sure didn't catch the kind of numbers (or size for that matter) that we hoped for. On Saturday we found that the fish were holding to brush, no brush, no fish. It seemed like they came from the deep side of docks with brush. I don't think the front that rolled thru friday did us any favors. We used jigs (blue white, blue and clear etc..)to catch the fish we did manage to catch. Most seemed in the 8-15' depths. Went out Sundy for an hour and caught one or two, nothing great. probably cught 20-25 keepers on Saturday, and really not too many shorts. Biggest was close 12", but all the others were carbon copy 9-10inchers. On a side note I caught 8-10 short LMB on jig and plastic while actually trying for bass Saturday morning, but no keepers, then switched to crappie.

Good work getting after them......yea, the weather does mess up the bite, glad you found some eaters despite it. Thanks for the report.
We do not want the gift of a fish; neither do we expect a lesson on fishing; what we direly need is a chance to fish

I was on the Big Niangua all last week until noon Saturday. We did better when the wind was blowing and a lot of chop on the water. Like you said earlier, no brush no fish. But we found keepers anywhere from a couple of feet deep to about 6-7 ft. Saturday I got out later than normal and only fished a couple of hrs, but most of the fish were in the 10" range, which was better than most of the week. Last Mon-Wed when the lake was calm, you really had to work for the fish. Lots of dinks and most were around 8' deep, but we did manage quite a few in the 9-10" range, but really had to work for them. Most of the time you'd pull up to a spot catch a couple real quick then they'd turn off and you'd have to go to another spot. White bass also turned on when the wind picked up, most found on shallow points right up against the shore. Very nice size. Many in the 15" range. Overall, I've had better luck this time of year, but still managed to fill the freezer for the winter!
