I would say no. but if I have a jig pole in my hand, I don't cast.

Pflueger presidents and trions and I like the PT series from quantum.

Then the bait caster probably isn't the reel for you. I always have a couple poles with open face reels on hand, but 90% of the time I won't need to reel any line in.

If you have room for a third save me a spot. :D

A second vote for Okumas, found them to be pretty durable and decent bang for the buck. Big difference in a static line dipping reel and a reel that is used during the presentation or retrieve. Silversides hasn't turned his reel handle in the last three trips he's been with me that I've noticed. And finesse fishing for some of the Truman gang represents anything light enough that you can't uproot small stumps with it. :D

Hard to beat the US Reel 180sx that rogers sporting goods has on sale for $49. Good drag and will cast a mile. Also very smooth on a slow retrieve for verticle fishing.

Ive tried just about all brands and this what I think. For the money, performance and just a great reel. Pflueger President . Match that with a Micro Lite rod and 6# Floraclear , its hard to beat!

I have had wonderful performance from Shimano reels over the past 30 years.
