    Default wappapello this weekend

Heading to wappapello this weekend and was wondering if any of you have some ideas on where the best options might be to find some keeper fish. I have not fished in a couple weeks and the last 2 trips made for a lot of action, but not much to take home. I know the cold front is gonna change things, but looking for some ideas and would like to meet some of you wappapello guys.

I just got back Wednesday. Fished late Mon, Tues, Wed. Caught one fish late Monday off the bank. Only fished about an Hour and got fed up. Almost kissed a Rattlesnake. Tuesday went out on the boat and we caught 6 keepers in about 6 hours. Tuesday evening I went back down to the bank to waste some time and caught probably 75 crappie in about an hour an a half. Every cast I would get one. Only 5 keepers out of those. Got too dark so I went back to the house. Went back to the same spot Wed. morning and caught 1 in an hour. Scratched my head did a little cussing and went home. All the fish seemed to stunt at 8.5 inches. I did manage to catch one over 14 inches which is huge for Wappapello. I will be back to catch some bluegill in a few weeks. I am done with those small crappie.

These are 16 from yesterday evening, 5:30 to dark. Had some pretty decent fish. One was a hair over 14 and a couple more were 13. The pattern I'm on right now are stumps in 6 to 10 fow adjacent to the main channel. They are holding tight and I'm only catching one or two off each stump before having to move to the next one. I also heard yesterday evening that some people are starting to have luck on the bank(Finally!). Those dinks sure can be frustrating, but there are some good fish down there. Lately on the channel banks, when one side of the boat is in 12 feet and the other in 8, I will wear out the dinks in 12 and catch fewer, but better fish in 8. Best of luck and hope this helps.

I'm typically on the main lake and no farther up river than otter creek. That's not to say you can't find them up farther, cause a lot of guys do. I've just never given it a whole lot of effort and I'm not very comfortable driving the boat up that way.

be sure to take it slow on the lake if your not familiar with it. I saw 2 boats get stuck on some flats. Looked like geysers out there when they tried to get out.
