Anybody else hit Twain this weekend? As many boats as there were, I figured we'd hear a few more reports- Don't be afraid to give a report, even if its bad.

Hit the lake saterday and yes there was boats everywhere. Well i dont have a good report,we fished 5 hours and didnt keep a fish. I think the cold front pushed them back alittle bit. We did catch about 30 fish but no keepers. Most of the fish came out of sandy creek in 15 fow about 10 ft deep. Sorry for bad report but hopefully things will start to get better.

I've met Ron and his crew before and I can vouch for their business.....it is top notch! If I didn't have my own place at Twain, I would certainly be staying with him. They'll steer a guy in the right direction for fish, thats for sure.

As for the report........ went out Sunday afternoon and stayed up in the middle fork and stuck a few..... lot's of little males closer to the bank and better size fish still in some deeper water. Give it time......... I'd say things should pick up by the weekend.

Sorry, If suggesting, getting a plug in for one's business was wrong. Someone might want to know where your at. There's more to Missouri then just Rall's an Monroe County's. After fish'n Twain for over "20" years, I'll get it right someday. Good Luck.

My group has been staying at SouthFork for about 20 years now in the fall pre fishing the Bud Light Tournament-for three owners of the resort now. I still run into Larry D. around town in O'Fallon-he and Terra were great owners-they remembered our cabin preference from year to year and we didn't even have to reserve it-they just knew!

I haven't met Ron yet, but we have met his wife- they seem like great folks too!. We are still planning to stay at SF for years to come- great place to stay.

Sorry for the delay. It's that busy time of year around here what with turkey hunting, fishing, and my day job. Anyway, Mary and I bought South Fork in November of 08. We are both from Minnesota. I have been fishing since I was very young. Not catching mind you, just fishing. We have stayed at many resorts over the years so had some ideas on what we wanted to accomplish here. One of the things we did right away was revamp the fishing report on our website as any kind of up to date information on the lake seemed to be lacking in the area. My son Travis did a great job of putting together our website and setting it up so I can easily do updates and folks can easily add comments. We feel like we are living in paradise here at MTL. Stop in and say hi. Keep an eye on our web site as I post a new report weekly. I try to get it on Wednesday evening or Thursday at the latest.

My brother and I were up there two days last week (Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday). Launched at Route U ramp on Tuesday. Naturally the water was high, muddy, and still rising due to all of the recent rain. We fished about 4+ hours that afternoon/evening and were able to clean three fish. We just fished a few of the coves within 1/4 mile of the ramp.

Wednesday morning we put in at the small ramp at the back-side of the State Park campground. We fished and fished and fished, and caught two keepers in over 6 hours. I mean it was TOUGH!! The only two fish that we were able to hook, were keepers. Suffice it to say that we are not the most knowledgeable when it comes to finding the hot spots on MTL. We were both pretty down about the fishing last Wednesday.

I am planning on going up alone this Tuesday. I think I'm going to put in at Ray Behren's to try a different part of the lake. I think I am also going to try some minnows this time, which we did not do last week. Wish me luck!!

The conditions at Twain are tough for everyone right now from what I hear. When the water rises that fast, a lot of times the crappie are said to relate to the old water level and not follow the water like you would think. About how deep were you fishing?
