    Somebody correct me if i'm wrong, but i think the whole cranking thing got started with folks pulling the old Bomber bass baits with a hair jig tied behind it. It got more interesting when big crappie started hitting the Bombers.

    Back in the '80s, I found more than a few Bombers and Hellbenders hung up on deep stumps, tops, etc., after the water went down in the fall.

    30# yrs ago hotshots were the way to go caught a lot of fish on them.
