Well........that depends. Are you planning on taking him again, or have you learned your lesson?

Is longlining for crappie the same as longlining for sand bass? Same size reels, baits, speed, etc.

    Thanks

I just tried that for the first time this afternoon on a small pond, caught b/w 15-20 crappie and bream in a couple of hours. I was pulling four 1/8 oz jigs at 1 mph+/- on 30-40' of line, no hang-ups or tangles and had a good time. I ran rods out of both sides with a 12' on the front and a 7' on the back, curly tails out caught the other jigs 2 or 3 to 1.

Default Wonder what a Roadrunner does

depth wise long lining. Say 1 MPH and 40 foot of line out. Be curious on that one

I had one RR out with 3 regular jigs and they all seemed to tick bottom at around 4.5-5feet, 1/16 oz. at 1 mph, 30-35' of line out.

Default Think I might try something in the morning

Someone was telling me at the camp that they ran a jig out on the same line with a crank. I might try putting a road runner up where it runs about 2 foot above my crankbait and see how that works. Right now at the rez, they're at 10-12 feet, least thats where I was getting my fish at so I'll run the crank at 11-12 so the roadrunners is at 9-10 feet. Worth a try anyhow

Haven't tried it but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I think someone posted a rig like that last summer, he was catching fish on jigs and just using the crank to get them down deep enough.

Default I just use a 2 oz weight to get my jigs down and push them

Figure that I can kill 2 birds with one stone this was. If they don't want the crank, maybe they'll want a nibble filled jig instead. Got a way now to get nibble at my crank bait and it was working pretty good at sardis. Guess leaving a scent trail with a crank works just like a jig
