Default Where there's smoke... PICS ADDED

THERE'S FIRE!!! And it was, how do I put it to words, SMOKING down at the Ross Barnett spillway. At least in my boat it was. I staked my claim to my spot about 4am this morning after carefully studying the river stage on my PC. After I got anchored down everyone else kept going past me and looking at me like I was crazy for parking where I did. Well, before it was all over I was totally surrounded. I started catching fish right after the sun hit the water and had a limit by 10:30 or so. At that time my wife came out but the fish had just about cut off by then. I didn't keep a fish under 1lb (unless it was mortaly wounded) and the slab of the day went 3lb 4oz. She will be gracing my wall as soon as I have the funds to put her there.

    PICS LATER!!!

Can't wait to see the pics of that fish. Sounds like you had an awesome morning. We will be down trying our luck at Grenada the 27th-30th.

Default Here are a few of the pics I promised.

These pics are of the 3lb 4oz SUPER SLAB! I will post pics of the total catch later. I had to hurry and get these so I could get the fish in the freezer for preservation.

10' deep but depth is NOT the key to spillway fishing. It's not the color either. it's LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!! The old saying "right place, right time" is what it's all about! I can read the water down there like a book. I know where I am going to anchor down the night before. Heck, sometimes 2 or 3 days in advance.

Wow, what a nice fish. I'm going out in the morning to see if I can find one just like it. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Wish I could read the spillway like that..I can in other places but that darn spillway drives me crazy. I was there one day bumping corks with a older lady and her grandson son and she caught 3 to my 1. Me and a buddy are heading down there in the morning.
