I have only been in one boat out of several that had one tall enough to stand up under while on the back deck......taller is better I think.
I am getting me a top for the boat so I can fish off the back with the grandkids in the shade.. I want a 4 pole bimini that is 54in high. I am questioning how long I want it to be. I see some 6ft and some 8ft. My only real concern is thaa it might come too far forward and make getting onto the front deck a little difficult. Anybody have any suggestions or experience with this

Taller is definitely more comfortable as far as getting in and out from under it. But something to think about is.....the taller the bimini the more the shade will be over the water and not over the boat. I have mine where you have to pretty much crawl under it. But the shade is always over the seats I want it over. BUT......it is a pain in the butt getting out from under it when the fish are really biting the crankbaits like crazy. I like to take a couple people with me and we just take "shifts" in the shade and reeling fish.
I have one almost new 8 ft , 55 in tall ill sell you, think its about 6 ft wide,

Bad thing about an umbrella is they blow off. And when u tie them down all the bungee cords, straps etc are in the way. Bimini top on a sliding track works. Just takes a little time to install

8 ft dia and the XL is 9 ft. Drill a hole in lower part of pole...bolt on a short piece of dog chain and a snap... then screw a folding d ring on deck to snap chain to. That way no tie downs in way of fishing.
