Friends down this spring had both there pistols stolen out of there truck at persimmon hill ramp. They filed a report but haven’t heard from them since. Enough folks start paying attention these guys will get caught sooner than later

They are brave to break on 11 trucks at that landing. It takes a while to go through 11 trucks. The law needs to get this stopped.

Shouldn't be this way but I've started leaving mine unlocked. I think the risk is the same as if I lock it. The guy who will open the door on someone else's truck is the same guy who will break the window if it's locked. Hate the loss of privacy tho.

Bad here in CA too. See my post in CA forum. Makes ya want to boobie trap my own truck to do the low life's some major harm, gather up the pieces, and offer their remains to the crab and crawfish gods. My luck, I'd forget it was boobie trapped and end up harming myself , however. All you can do is keep your eyes open for everybody's sake, take pics of suspicious types( w license plate#), call cops if your seeing them obviously prowling, or turn in data if something happens later. Locksmith that repaired my most recent episode stated it's so bad in San Fransisco that people are not locking? their car doors( on purpose), leaving their Windows down, and leaving notes on windows saying" car unlocked please don't break windows". Supposedly people are thiefing just for coin change so often, they've had to resort to this. Also told me GMC & Ford trucks they just punch lock with a socket, FYI. Happened 3 times on my GMC, including once at Costco in broad daylight.
Real frustrating and becoming way more frequent. Hope these lowlife's enjoy nothing but constant misery and pain in this life, and an eternity of the same.

A few summers ago me and Victor were launching at McCurdy. A couple of guys and girl were just hanging around the area. We didn't go to far from the ramp and I also called the Ranger. He came and patrolled the ramp and we saw them leave. I'm bad about leaving stuff in the truck. Guess I need to clean it out so they don't bust my window

1- Don't make yourself a target. Keep your truck clean and keep anything of value out of sight- Put it in your glovebox. Clean out your truck every couple of days. If I'm concerned enough, I'll unplug and stow my car chargers. Don't keep spare change in the cupholder.
2- Don't advertise. Take the decals off of your truck. Saying that you don't call 911, you call 357 is cute, but it also tells the world that you carry a gun. A thief will break out your window in hopes that you decided your 357 was too heavy to carry around all day.
3- Cameras tell people what happened, but they don't stop crime.
Chances are a thief isn't going to go through your rig with a fine-tooth comb, but if they can glance in the window and see that there's change in the cupholder, sunglasses around the rearview, a Sig Sauer sticker on the back glass, and what might be a cell phone attached to a charger, he's going to bust your window out before he busts out the window of a rig with none of those things visible. This is doubly true for OOS trucks. People know that if you're a fisherman and traveling to do it, you're more likely to have more stuff in your truck.

We have low life thugs committing smash and grabs in our area from time to time as well. Seems that security cameras, vigilance, and stiffer sentences might be our best line of defense. There are some informative videos online as to how many of the trailer locks on the market take less than 2 minutes to break. I mention this because newer trailers are targeted also. https://youtu.be/-Lq6_N5K1L4 There is some rust/patina looking paints that some sportsmen are using to decoy their trailers from these thugs prowling ramp parking areas. The thugs take wheels as well as the entire trailer. Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.
