    Default New to pushing cranks

Sorry guys I know this had probably been gone over 100 times but I tried searching and couldn't much. What I am wanting to know is what kind of crankbaits are best to push. I have several bandit 200 and arkie 350. Are they good for pushing or do I need something different. Im sure Scott V could weigh in cause I will be fishing at Okatibee. I talked to Ed Duke today and just as soon as he gets his 12ft rods in that like the SCR143T I am going to buy some to push with. Also I understand summer is best for cranks but does anyone do it any other time of the year?
Thanks j2will thanked you for this post

ScottV and I both pour the 3oz pushing weights. They get the crankbait to the depth you need to fish without as much line out.

You can push any crankbait.....even lipless ones like rattletraps ......because depth is controled by the 3 oz trolling weight three ft ahead of the crankbait.

Well I'll be! I've just used a 3/4 oz in the past. Perhaps I need to change it up!

    We push cranks with 2oz trolling weights & a 5ft leader line @ 1.8mph

Most use Bandits, but Shadrap, Arkie, Rebel, Bomber, Storm, & even AC Shiner cranks are good choices.

However ... most push with the same length rods they use for Spider Rigging, which is 14' - 16' (& use line counter reels).

Yeah I usually use the 3/4 oz for spider rigging too. I'm gonna have to get some of those 3oz'ers. A friend of mine has done really well pushing cranks, so have I. Perhaps with the right set-up we will do better! Will PST's hold up those 3oz weights? I have been using the Arkie cranks.
