I try to keep my weight at 1/2 oz. That gives me enough bow in my tip that I can see a bite. You will miss light bites with too much weight.

Im making trolling rigs for minner's and mostly fish 1oz.... Does it really matter? 1/2..3/4 or 1oz?

Yes it does matter, at least in my opinion. . I go as light as I can stand.

A lot like the old Wannabe... except with fewer bad words. And Karate chop action. But, yes, still purtier than you.
Im with these guys I usually fish 3/8 ounce . Seems to me the smaller the weight the slower it makes me troll.

Guess I need to lighten up some lines.
yep 3/8oz. I was using 3/4oz earlier in the year just because of the wind--but knew I should be using lighter so I went back to 3/8oz-like GTG I figured how to control it with my TM instead of forcing it with the weight. It made a big difference for me.
I use a 1/4 oz egg sinker with a 1/8 oz jig head on bottom most of the time. So 3/8 for me too.

1/2 oz most of the time, shallower lighter down to 1/4 with 1/8 jig. If deeper than 12ft I go to 3/4. When I first started I used these heavy sinkers then got on here and learned better. Like ScottV said was amazed at how many bites you miss with heavy weight. Like everyone else said it makes you slow down and fish.
