let me say it again.bulldog is the hate monger crappiekilla. the first place I ever saw trollers was on Grenada, probably started on Kentucky lake. that is one lake where I believe you have to troll. the Ill-Mo boys didn't invent it. we copied you guys. I think tournaments can hurt, when the pros show everyone new ways and places to fish and I do fish them. BUT they are usually only 1 day. the locals can put it on them too. the biggest threat is that there way more fishermen than there used to be. no one should have the right to feed their whole family from the lake and timber anymore, it is not 1830. there are a lot more people now and the land and water can't support it. catch and release was started by the bass fishermen who were weighing in and keeping stringers of fish and the public didn't like it. the problem is that crappie don't survive the boat ride and weigh in. that is why they have dropped the limit to 7. it will probably go lower. bass went from 15 to 10 to 7,6 and now 5

There are just as many crappie taking out of the lake's during the spawn witch is more harmfull b/c thay are full of egg's.That's what need's to be stoped..Just thank if we had as many out of stater's coming down to deer hunt as we do durning the spawn, there would not be a deer anywhere. That needs to be stoped to.I dont hunt out of state and I dont fish out of state, just in GOD's country here in MS.So if you wount to hunt and fish MS you need to move here, just my 2 cent's.

gw, but the fish are caught on many public waters that are not state but federal waters: sardis, enid, grenada and a host of other federal lakes/Corp of Engineers, that belong to US not a particular state. Don't agree with the selfish attitude of what is ours is yours. Buy your 40 acres build your lake and keep trespassers off if you want privacy. But you stock it with your own fish, don't expect me to pay for stocking fish on your property. Public waters are paid for by the public and belong to all. My two cents. Sharing makes us better people, come up to my state for some great times!

tunica, some people are recognized by their character as good people not their license plate. I routinely fish with others from other states and all have found them to be quality people. And, I come south because I like fishing other waters, and last I knew it was still a part of the good old USA. Tunica, don't know where you come from or where you grew up, but most of us judge others by their character. You had to ask, and I fish in Mississippi because it is my right, I buy a license and have paid my dues. I guess the question you need to ask yourself is have you? I defended this country for almost all of my entire adult life, 25 years serving in the Armed Forces. I think that entitles me the right to fish any public waters of this country. Grow up and read the Constitution. Go stir somewhere else, I feel this boy has earned the right!

I don't think the tourism department would like this thread.

Personally, I still don't think tourney's hurt our lakes, with no more fish than they keep. I still say there are relatively few trollers on Grenada. I still say the locals who troll and troll and troll all year, and catch 100 times more than they can eat do more harm than our out of state friends and tourney boys, who I really don't think do any harm at all. I know tourism likes them here. I'm glad the Ill, MO, Iowa, and TN guys come down, and they are welcome in my book. Just like I want to feel welcome at Reelfoot, the White River, and the lakes in northern Minnesota and lower Canada.

Look at it this way. The Grenada Lake spillway blows out more crappie than all the tourney guys and our out of state friends catch, all combined. I say turn off the spillway.

    Aren't we the hospitality state?

    Don

Pstone, I checked Bryant again....still no water...did you go today? I hope to go tomorrow, Wednesday, hoping the water has settled. Young's is about one foot above where I like it to be.

Oh, and I can't resist this edit. A friend of mine asked another good friend of ours, who is a lake manager on Grenada, "Why do you guys always keep messing with the spillway and water level during the spawn?" Our friend, who had no doubt heard this a million times before said, "Oh, they send orders from Vicksburg for us to do it just to pi$$ off the crappie fishermen." :D
