    Default New to Biloxi

Hello! I will be PCSing to Keesler AFB this summer. I'm a die hard fisherman and I'm psyched about all the saltwater opportunities in the area. With that said, I have and always will be a crappie fisherman. It looks like most of the good crappie fishing is in the central to northern part of the state. I'm wondering if anyone has any advice on areas (lakes/rivers) in the southern part of the state, near the coast. I'm trying to navigate the internet, but info seems tough to find for Mississippi. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Default Yeah, it's not too much information coming out of the extreme South MS area...

I've been doing research and asking around and you might want to see if any forum resources fish the Pascagoula River. I saw a fishing report that it was falling and that there were some reports on crappie lately. Since most folk in that area are saltwater fishermen, you might find some low pressure freshwater fishing spots with a little information and luck....Try MDWFP site fishing reports, the state is broken down in regions.

I fish alot On the pearl (live in diamondhead just west of gulfport) river alot and do well, the pasagoula is also good, don't waste your time on paul b. johnson (over fished), been hearing good things about flint creek and little black creek. the upper pearl (bougoulsa is pretty good), however we don't get the big slabs down here like they do further north. hope this helps some. good luck

That's great! Names of areas are a good start. I love to fish for crappie in rivers, so that sounds good. Thanks!

If you fish a small boat pasagoula would be great. There's some nice slabs pulled out of there. From the base you can be there in about 35 40 min just pm me I'll tell you some spots. I lived there and have family still there, they too are big crappie hunters. I also have a spot 15 min from base.

I disagre about the Paul Johnson water park. That's where I launch on the Pearl and go North. Couldn't ask for better fishin. Good numbers and good size.
