Default Transplanted Mississippian - looking for info

Greetings fellow Crappie anglers! I am a northerner recently relocated to the fine state of MS, Columbus area to be exact.

I fish fairly seriously, but never spider rigging or pulling cranks and would very much like to learn how..

I'm batching it for a few weeks, if any of you fellows ever need a fishing partner for a day, evening, morning or whatever...

I'm pretty good company in a boat and would pack a cooler of soft drinks and sandwiches.. I'd even help buy the gas!

I brought my boat down a 18 ft pro deep v tracker with a 90 hp on it.. Be glad to provide the boat, but i don't know if it is appropriate for that type of fishing..

doesn't idle down and run well at low speeds for long periods.. Thinking i might buy a crappie set up when i see what works best..

fished some here early on before the heat, casting jigs and did just fine, but since it's got hot i've about quit...

and I do have access to an excellent private lake, the only drawback is there is only limited deep water in front of the dike, the dike is several hundred yards long, but it's limited..

And if the above doesn't work out can any of you all recommend a good guide for the area?

    thx
    LH

    Welcome to the MS board.

Your deep V will work out here just fine. In fact, you will find several deep V's in this group. They seem to work very well on the big 4 in nasty weather.

Try and come to our crappie camp on 9/11 at Enid if you can. This is a motley group but they are all fine folks for the most part.

Welcome! Never been to Columbus, so can't help ya there. You don't need to run the big motor when spider rigging, just the trolling motor and some racks to hold poles. If your trolling motor is strong enough, you can even pull cranks with it.
