    Default Females with Eggs-Deep Water

This past weekend I caught 40 nice size crappie in deep water at Sardis (15-20 feet) fishing about 8 feet deep and all but maybe 5 were females and still had eggs. I just don't think those fish are going shallow. My dad used to tell me they'd spawn out in the stumps in deep water. I'm not a biologist. Anyone got an opinion as to what this means?

Seein this is in Mississippi I would have thought the spawn would have been over wif there.
Maybe the eggs was sum she didnt lay & will absorb back into her.I hear alot on hear sayin she will absorb the unlayed eggs....I cant elaborate on it as i have no clue about the process..just my .02 worth

What color were the eggs? Color will tell you if they will be laid.

    Default Eggs

The eggs in the fish i've been catching are same color as ones caught during spawn with distinct blood vessels around them. I have been told those would be laid through the years.

caught some crappie @ Sardis this year in the MIDDLE of April when the spawn was full blast in 20-30 ft of water. They were also slap FULL of eggs. Couldn't find many shallow so we backed out to deeper water water and waxed 'em. You know the old sayin'....if something ain't working, try something different.........
