The crappies that we were going to target on this lake are huge! Unfortunately our day that we had planned on going after them turned into a little bit of a beer binge and we never made it out. Walleyes are still a treat to catch though! I encourage anyone to try fishing for Crappies in canada. They get huge because no one targets them!

Sounds like a cool trip.I stay in Minnesota mostly.Haven't been up that far north in quite a few years. For big crops,I like Crane,Rainy,Red,Ely area,Detroit Lakes area, and lakes within an hour of the TC's.There are also quite a few lakes In Wisconsin I'll go for some slabs too.
I've been getting some nice eye's on Lake Independence lately.:D

i did two ten day backpacking trips into Quetico couple of years back. had a heck of a time. we were going to take our vacation in minnesota this year, but i heard the fishing in the middle of the summer is pretty slow. resort owners were telling me there were bass up to 5 pounds that i could catch in the summer and i can do that anywhere here all year.
here is my question for you folks, if we were going to take a vacation involving fishing, hiking, etc... what time of year would be best and what area. keep in mind we don't have kids, so the whole playground thing doesn't matter in the least. thanks for any info!
