Michigan CDC ice fishing Jamboree 1-27-18

I'm going to plan a little ice fishing get together for anybody that wants to show up. It will be Jan. 27 and will be held at Holland Lake in Sheridan, Mi. Once I get an idea how many can make I'll work out more of the details.

Initial thoughts are to meet at the Crossroads diner on the corner of M-66 and Sidney Road for breakfast them drive to the lake from there. If there are those that want to attend but they don't have ice fishing gear, I have plenty to share.

If you bring you're kids or grand kids there is a small hill they can sled on and the lake is good for ice skating, too.

Hope everyone can attend.

I remember back in 2013 we had a weekend ice fishing get away

Any good crappie in that lake,also I herd Bigfoot was spotted there recently, lol

I'm in. I also have plenty of gear to go around for those that might need it.

Not sure who all I'll bring. Can Wilbur handle the cold? Wonder if he can pull a sled

I'm in. May be bringing the grandkids along.....not sure if I am up for both of them coming at the same time....they argue too much when they are together.....like Jerry and OE.

Wilbur does like to ice fish, so we'll try to get him ready for the event.

So they got this "Ride the goat app" out now I found while downloading Precision Trolling..... I think whoever made it should be paying a royalty to us.....it was our idea years ago.

Tons of smallish gills with some up to 8+ mixed in. I usually get 3-4 specks in with every limit but that's using spikes and wax worms. Biggest this year was around 11". If you use minnows you may catch more. Also a healthy population of small pike with rumors of some big ones as well.

Ionia is the closest town so I suspect our very own OE would know a good place.

Looks like the AmericInn suites on the west side of Greenville is closest. Ionia has a super 8 at I-96 and M-66

I took Jeff out for a ride today and we ended up at the Beats-a Tent. Along the way we stopped at the Crossroads Diner. They open at 6:30 on Saturdays so that will be our meeting spot for the ice fishing get together, time TBD. There is also a small motel across the road, the Half Moon Motel. No idea what it's like but will make some phone calls and find out. Looks a little like the Bates Hotel so if basslady stays there she should probably pack heat in the shower.
