What do you do on a day that promises to start out cold and get down right frigid as the day goes on? You and a buddy go on a road trip to Pinconning. Jeff picked me up about 9 this morning and after a stop at the bank to refill our wallets we headed that way. Our first stop was at the Pinconning cheese store for some free samples and to see what kinds of cheeses we could find. I decided on smoked cheddar, smoked swiss and cracked peppercorn. Jeff got smoked cheddar.

The next stop was at Franks Sporting Goods, just up the road a bit. This was my first time stopping there and I was impressed with the quantity and variety of sporting goods they have. I didn't buy much and Jeff found a new Stormy Chromer.

After that we took a drive over to Saginaw Bay to scout out access points in case we decide to ice fish there. Found two different spots and could see some coops out a ways and talked to one guy who was just coming in. It's crazy how high the ice piles are at the pressure ridges. I think it would take perfect conditions and a good guide before I would go out a couple of miles after a few fish.

The last stop of the day was at Northwoods discount sporting goods. Holy crap! That place has a lot of stuff. We both ended up with some more jigs, more plastics as well as enough bags of candy bars to supply a small city on Halloween.

Now I have to reorganize my newly organized tackle boxes and try to figure out where I'm gonna put my new goodies.
