Not sure about cabins.

You can check out the lake map on the DNR site as well as the park on the Osceola county site. Tell me what you think!

Been years since I have been there. Dad actually brought it up.
I don't see any cabins on the camground map and no mention of them anywhere, so I'm thinking not. It does look like a nice lake and CG, but without cabins it might be bad for some...like you and Brian, and Kevin and...

If we are still in the "looking" phase Rich, how about Coldwater Lake in Isabella Co.? Here's a link to their webpage for Coldwater Lake Family CG: Coldwater Lake Family Park

I know nothing about this lake other than what I've gleaned off the web. It does have a few islands and a depth down to 60 or so feet. The campground does look like it has all the "prerequisites" also. Just more food for thought.

I don't know if the group has already been to Houghton lake, or maybe its way tooo busy for our outing but just throwing it out there.

Just down the road of the houghton lake campground is a large, multiple trailer boat launch.
Coldwater lake is a good otpion. According to fish stocking program, they receive quite a few walleye plants, the most recent being in 2013 of 12375 fish at an average length of 1.39 inches. Those would be grown up and at the keeper year class size too.

I'm not opposed to Houghton lake either. Only issue MIGHT be that the lake will get crowded as that should be the first weekend that school is out.

Dad will be at the house tomorrow and we will make a decision. Tons of good ideas. From Cadillac, Houghton lake, Coldwater lake, Rose lake. It is his decision.

Of course, he lurks everyday but has yet to figure out this posting thing. Maybe I will waterboard him until he gets the hang of it
