Got my first one today also. Tubbs Lake
So a couple weeks ago, when it looked like Spring was here, I got on the water a couple times, and actually managed to cast a line one day. No fish, but it was nice to get back on the water, and then Winter returned. Now with the weather having cooperated the past few days, and the water temperatures starting to rise again, I decided to take advantage of yesterday evenings wonderful weather, and a solunar calendar that had a prime feed shortly after I got out of work. In the hour and a half I was on the water I was able to land a nice little sunfish for my first fish of the season along with a couple other small sunfish and dink blue gills. I lost two very nice specks right close to the kayak, and found a few chunky gills.
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :D

Caught my first of the season last night as well!! Water temp was right around 50.
Nice to get that first bite of the year Frank. I got my my first "Kayak Fish" yesterday. Took my 3.5 year old with me and got on the water around 6PM. After a short 5 min paddle, we landed about 10 gils that were close to the shore reeds. After that we paddled another 5 min over to "The crappie tree". I had a pink/black feather jig tipped with a Berkley fish fry, under a pencil bobber. I helped him land a few gils on it and we also go 2 10 or 11 inch crappies. I also landed a 24 inch pike on my Unltralight -- Yea, that was a fun 15 minutes!

Good to see all the folks got out and fished this weekend. Glad to see Frank came outa the wood work too
I needed to help out my sis over in Howell, so hauled the boat along. Managed to get out and helped my nephew land some bass. No crappie this time.
