Yep, stayed with Larry in his truck camper, had the little red covered bow boat. Did the bacon wrapped walleye which is always good sun or snow. Looking forward to another get together, trying to do a little more panfishing.

Yes it was. We actually caught more fish than that through same holes between sat. and an hour sunday morning. This was a crappie site, so didn't post these, but got them also same time mixed in. lost a few lures to them also. Biggest was 30", 4lb. test.

Well then you and Ralph need to pack up that truck and boat and head over to Hardy in June and join us again. The groups getting big enough that we might be able to call it a crowd now.

Nice perch Larry. I would love to find a lake where perch fishing was good enough that a guy could count on catching enough for a fish fry. I was up to Hubbard Lake 2 weeks ago to do some scouting, and the word was that finding enough perch for a fish fry was like finding gold nuggets. Pretty sad when a lake like that (Add in Black L., Higgins L., L. Independence(UP) etc that have reputations for A FEW BIG perch.) and any perch fisherman is pretty much SOL. I'm glad bluegills and walleyes are easy to find and easy to catch. Apparently walleyes are so thick on Saginaw bay that they are reducing perch number BIG TIME. Years ago a guy could go over there, anchor in a pack of boats, and catch a bucketful of perch. The two big perch party boats are gone. Perch charters aren't worth the effort and the packs of perch boats are no more. How sad.

Muskegon Lake has been good to me this year on perch. Both the white bellies and yellow bellies.
Grand Haven is also another good spot. What you are looking for on the Lake Michigan side is a couple of days of strong East winds. It tends to bring in some turbulent waters and the perch respond. Watch "Grand Haven Steelheaders" website and there will be posting when the perch come in.

Yes, the walleyes are heavy in the bay however you can get into some decent perch. My recommendation is to watch the electronics and mark the areas that you catch a nice perch. Go back to the spot and target it. I always say I want to catch perch but really didn't start getting into them until I targeted them hard. Once you do that, you know what you are looking for. Lake Erie will be dynamite in another month.
