awesome catch way to go
Well Tuesday afternoon I went about 50 miles North to one of my favorite post spawn bluegill and crappie holes. Over the years I have developed a pattern for post spawn panfish that has stayed true on this lake for 30+ years. Once the spawn is over the bigger specks and the big bull male bluegills move out to the stumps that are closest to the main river channel until the weeds are to thick, then they move into the main lake holes. Once again the pattern was right on. First I checked the shore line and found empty beds so I immediately started working my way through the stumps toward the river channel. In the interior areas of the stump fields I picked up several female gills and small crappies but did not catch a good one until I was within 2 or 3 stumps from the river channel. I used a 1/64 oz jig with my favorite little Eagle Claw Crappie bait. I landed a total of 57 good keepers, gills over 9 inches and specks over 11. I kept a couple crappies and about a dozen gills. What a great day in the kayak.

Frank you are getting close to me. Can't tell were you were at must be someplace on the AuSable.Anyway nice looking fish.
Those are some pretty fish Frank. Gotta love the colors in them. Who says the tropics are the only place for brilliant coloring in fish, huh?!!

Nice job Slabs
Thanks Bob. See you in a couple weeks again. I am going to try to get a couple days of fishing open to go with you guys. The big bass are hitting also so we should have another great time. Here is a picture of a nice 19 3/4 inch largemouth I caught Wednesday. I hooked 2 other largemouths and one smallmouth that were bigger and lost all three of them when they jumped. You would have thought it was my first time bass fishing the way I just let them jump. Rookie mistake but had fun.

I tried your approach Sat. and went to a new lake down Allegan way. Was a great morning to be on the water. Lake isn't listed in my Sportsmans Connecgtion map book, and it's not on my FF either. Had some great contrours and...dang it wouldn't ya know I forgot the camera...a flag pole in the middle of the lake. Yup had a great big area with a flat w/ 2 FOW. My jet had no problems, but nobody else woudl venture in there. Had a riot with the flyrod and the top feeding gills...mostly small stuff.
Did catch a couple of specks, but nothing of any size.
