What do u mean by up ?
Damaged the base of my fuel pump on 1988 60 up mariner. Picked up a couple on eBay but they do not like up properly and Just will not run right. Just thinking about adding a low pressure electric pump. Anyone ever tried this? T.I.A.

Well I thought it was a case of fat fingers but it is my auto correct, apparently I cannot shorten horse power on this tablet.
I experimented with a holley red top (rated at 6lbs pressure) on an 83 Merc 150 once. 6 lbs was ok at higher rpms but too much at lower. I wound up having to use a regulator with it. It did ok but I never was really happy with it.

Thanks Barnacle Bill, I ordered one that is 2.4 to 4. Guess I will just have to try it and see what happens.
First thing I would do is a compression test on cylinders. Fuel pump is more than likely a pulse diaphragm pump. Which relies on good compression.

U said u damaged pump how?
Well it is a little embarrassing, I took it apart and set the base on my truck fender (don't ask why cause I don't know) then a short time later headed to the local marina to get a repair kit. Somewhere along the road lays part of my pump. Long walk and metal detector couldn't find it..
Why not go on Ebay and grab a used pump base? Surely they aren't that high, the OEM setup is always preferable. Those electric pumps are notoriously unreliable, you don't want to be dead on the water.
