Here you go on the 18 hp evinrude lower unit rebuild etc. I had to replace the clutch dog in a 18hp evinrude years ago and found a lots of information here on you tube. Hope this will be a little help. Check these out and let us know how you are doing with the rebuild.

Thank you a lot scrat, I guess I wasn't hitting the wording or not looking in the right area, as I kept coming up with info you pay to get...not the youtube kind. I do want a manual on hand when I dive into this thing. I will get busy here pretty soon and see if I can round up a filter, and plugs at least, and a compression gauge and see what's going on. Maybe I can get it going without involving the outboard mechanic too much...thanks again, Eric.

So I was on a site for tiny boats yesterday and ran across an individual who has a marine motor repair shop in Ohio South of Circleville who works on these older non computer controlled motors. He has the original factory mechanic's books, diagrams and schematic's for my fastwin motor as well as the parts I need to get it fixed and running...Talked on the phone with him for over an hour and got some great incite on this motor and what I need to do and in what order they need to be/ should be done in,( most important to lesser importance), well it's all important to do I guess. Anyway, getting an estimate for the parts, and hopefully I can have it running soon. Now to get to Fl. and get my car so I can start saving on gas... and get the wood part done on this boat.

Not sure how good of one it is yet, but, I received my Clymer Evinrude/ Johnson Outboard Shop Manual in the mail today, huuuraaaayyyy!!!!! At least I have something to follow, in my hands and don't have to worry about connections for the computer at the self storage unit where I'll be working on the motor....
