Default 1999 Bass Tracker Pro 165

I have a bad bilge pump in my 16' Bass Tracker. It is not automatic and I am wondering what most other folks use, what size, what brand, built in automatic float switch, or seperste auto trip float ? Or just replace what I have and leave it alone as manual ? Thanks in advance for your thoughts and information.

If your plumbing will allow it, go with a 1000gph auto pump. Your discharge tube will dictate how large a pump you can use. Just remember that a 1000gph pump will only move 100 gallons of water in 6 minutes and this is only if your hoses are big enough.

I've got basically the same boat and had to rewire my bilge. Have fun standing on your head.

If you don't have a deep bilge where water can build up a lot without you seeing it you can get by with just a switch. An auto is nice if you got a leak...course better to fix the leak. You can stay out on the water if you develop a small leak and the pump will take care of it without you having to hit the switch a lot.

I have never had an auto.

One time my wife launched me in my bassboat...I just drifted out a good ways and was waiting for her to park the truck and watching some pretty women prepping their boat to go out. All of a sudden I feel water around my feet. I had to go lay on the back deck and reach down and put the plug in....then pump it out. Another time I launched my jon boat by rope...pulled it to the bank and then went to park...came back and boat was sunk in the rear...put the plug in and pumped it out...

Heavy rain...an auto would be nice here if you get caught in a big storm. I pulled one of my jons up on the bank to seek shelter during a flashflood thunderstorm...when I came back the rear was sunk...had to pump it out.

I have almost the same boat. Ours has an automatic one in it. I love it. It has a small leak somewhere. Every now and then while fishing you will hear it come on. I'm not sure what size it is, but it's not very big.
