Great Video. It's always nice to find little honey holes that others find hard to get too. Love your set up. You can get into some skinny stuff with that boat/motor combo.

I watched a bunch of your videos yesterday and was wondering if you knew the speed that longtail gave you? I'm going to purchase a 14 or 15 foot flatbottom soon and originally was going to pair it with a 9.9 hp motor to be able to use it on Lake Catoma in Cullman which has a 10hp limit. However, if a SPS longtail like yours would at least plane it out, it would allow me to get a 20 or 25 hp for use in other lakes and use the cheaper longtail on the hp restricted ones.
Yeah, it tops out at 11 mph. That's 6.5 hp. Plus the powerhead is a go-kart motor. You can hot-rod go-kart motors just like a small-block 350 for the drag strip. I've seen guys take these to 11.8 hp. Some extreme builds can get over 20 hp off that small block.
Thanks for the reply! That's probably the route I will likely go then. A bonus would be I would have a new type of motor for exploring some hard to reach places as well.
What part of the Black Warrior do you fish? I live up in Cullman so I don't get to fish as far down as I am thinking you are but there look to be some pretty good places to put a motor like that to use up near the Sipsey and Mulberry Forks. There are some monster striped bass in that 15 or so mile stretch from the Smith Lake dam to the Mulberry fork!
I'm in Tuscaloosa. Let me know how it goes when you get the motor set up. Here's the tutorial video of how to put it together:
Neat video
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
