    Default Vent gas tank?

Should a gas tank vent be opened or closed during periods of boat not being used?

Depends on the tank, built in tank is already vented , portable steel tank keep the vent closed when not in use to help prevent rust, plastic tank , especially if its exposed to sunlight and heat , vent should be slightly opened because pressure can build up and cause the tank to swell and possibly cause gas to spray into your face / eyes when trying to plug the line into the engine. Gas in your eyes can ruin a fishing trip
