Question Wide Gunnel Mount Rod Holder without Drilling

    Hello,
I have a 1999 Lowe deep V 17' boat and I am looking for a way to mount rod holders like these without dripping and screwing directly into the boat.

I want to have the flexibility of having 8-12 of these located around the boat and want to be able to move them when/as needed.
I was thinking there must be a clamp over mount that would do the trick but my gunnel seems wider than most and there isn't any fast track attachment system. Here are a few pics of my gunnel dimensions:

I hope you guys can provide me some ideas. I have seen some that would come close but the Gunnel on my boat seems to be wider than most. Hopefully some of you out there have run into this before and can point me in the right direction.

    Thanks.

I would purchase a "Berts" track system. Mount it to the top of your Gunnels. You can then purchase the different Berts inserts, mount your rod holders to them and slide them wherever you chose to have them. Gone are the days when you hard mount rod holders only to find out you don't like the location.

Berts is not the only company that makes tracks but is the company I am most familiar with. They make two different widths and several different lengths to get exactly what you are looking for. I've used them on my Salmon boats and two of my other boats. My current boat has a track system built in to the gunnals so I didn't need berts.

You can purchase them from BP, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, and several other companies.

Make a mount off your cleats.

With the top width you have i was thinking a clamp for a topper on a pickup box might fit you might have to make or change the adjustment bolt to suit moving it and then drill holes in the clamp to mount the rod holder base just something to think about good luck

Don't know if you solved your rod holding mount problem yet but it not, check this out...http://www.crappie.com/crappie/perso...g-rod-holders/

I would look into one of the top mount track systems that Great Lakes anglers use to mount their rod holders and downriggers to, there are several manufacturers with varying prices. This would require that you drill a few holes in your boat to mount the system but eh flexibility of placing your rod holders thereafter is limited only by how long your track is.

Extreme Fishing Concepts makes the cleat-mount no-drill rod holders and they are rock solid, but you're still limited in placement to wherever your cleats are mounted.
